{"id":289,"date":"2018-09-18T13:24:27","date_gmt":"2018-09-18T13:24:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/isquaredemo.com\/MLT\/threegraceslegal\/the-serious-fraud-office-and-ai\/"},"modified":"2025-11-07T12:50:09","modified_gmt":"2025-11-07T12:50:09","slug":"the-serious-fraud-office-and-ai","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/isquaredemo.com\/MLT\/threegraceslegal\/news\/the-serious-fraud-office-and-ai\/","title":{"rendered":"THE SERIOUS FRAUD OFFICE AND AI"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/isquaredemo.com\/MLT\/threegraceslegal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/ai.png\" alt=\"Artificial Intelligence \" title=\"Serious Fraud Office\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Director at the Serious Fraud Office (SFO), Lisa Osofsky, has recently announced her plans to utilise artificial intelligence in order to deal with fraud cases that are data- heavy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Osofsky, the former FBI Lawyer discussed the SFO\u2019s plans in her first speech since taking on the chief role:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cWith the new eDiscovery platform, we\u2019re starting to use across all of our new cases, we\u2019ll soon bring a range of machine learning and AI-based technology assisted review features to our investigations\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>\u201cThis should creative even greater efficiencies, and potentially help us reach charging decisions sooner, and shorten the time it takes to progress to trial.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She also discussed an example of how artificial intelligence allowed for an 80% decrease in costs during the Rolls Royce case in 2016, showcasing the benefits to this new technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The head of the SFO also vowed to implement plans during her five-year term, firstly making sure the UK is established as a <strong><em>\u201chigh-risk place\u201d <\/em><\/strong>for those who commit sophisticated crimes.
