{"id":271,"date":"2018-10-30T10:35:31","date_gmt":"2018-10-30T10:35:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/isquaredemo.com\/MLT\/threegraceslegal\/lloyds-bank-face-unequal-pay-fines-up-to-150m\/"},"modified":"2018-10-30T10:35:31","modified_gmt":"2018-10-30T10:35:31","slug":"lloyds-bank-face-unequal-pay-fines-up-to-150m","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/isquaredemo.com\/MLT\/threegraceslegal\/news\/lloyds-bank-face-unequal-pay-fines-up-to-150m\/","title":{"rendered":"LLOYDS BANK FACE UNEQUAL PAY FINES UP TO \u00a3150M"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;\" title=\"Lloyds bank unequal pay fines\" src=\"https:\/\/isquaredemo.com\/MLT\/threegraceslegal\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/lloyds.jpg\" alt=\"Lloyds bank face fines up to \u00a3150m\" width=\"628\" height=\"363\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Lloyds Banking Group is set to face up to \u00a3150 million after the high court rule for equality on pension schemes for both female and male employees.<\/p>\n<p>The ruling comes after three of Lloyds\u2019 female employees filed a claim against the banking group, in regard to their pension rates and the difference between their pension schemes and that of their male colleagues.<\/p>\n<p>The case consisted of a dispute regarding employees who were entitled to a guaranteed minimum pension (GMP), which allows the employer and their staff to pay less in national insurance costs.<\/p>\n<p>The initial claim resulted in class action litigation from almost 3,000 members of the BTU, the independent union for all staff at Lloyd\u2019s bank. The union have estimated that around 35,000 pension scheme members should see an increase of \u00a3500 in their annual retirement income, whilst 8,000 members should gain an extra \u00a33,000, if not more.<\/p>\n<p>BTU discussed their involvement in the class action, stating:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cLet\u2019s be clear, had we succumbed to the bank\u2019s bullying and jettisoned our principles for a seat at the \u2018negotiating\u2019 table we would not have been able to pursue this case on behalf of all pension scheme members.\u201d<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>They have also discussed how the ruling will result in further increases for 5 million members of over 6,000 other pension schemes, which will especially benefit females, and according to the government could amount up to \u00a320 billion in total.<\/p>\n<p>A Lloyd\u2019s representative discussed the impact of the case, stating:<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u201cThe hearing focused on what is a complex and longstanding industry-wide issue. The group welcomes the decision made by the court and the clarity it provides.
