After being called to the Bar, he was a member of the Liverpool chambers of Lords Justices Levison and Edis, working in criminal law and common law for ten years. Bob then returned to his native North-East and qualified as a solicitor in 1999. Working in private practice in commercial, clinical negligence, and family public law, Bob became increasingly attracted to privacy and information law. He led in data protection and privacy law in national programmes both for NHS England and the Health Quality Improvement Partnership (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hqip.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/www.hqip.org.uk\/<\/a>). Bob then worked for several local authorities \u2013 latterly Birmingham City Council, the largest public authority in Europe!<\/p>\n<p>Bob has published an article on the demise of consent with Southampton University\u2019s prestigious privacy and information law blog,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/peepbeep.blog\/2017\/06\/15\/the-gdpr-the-parallel-regime-and-the-ico\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Peep Beep!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Bob has written a training package featuring a data protection officer called Boring Bob which, he hopes, demonstrates that data protection isn\u2019t as boring as some might think.<\/p>\n<p>Bob has just (about) mastered the first movement of Beethoven\u2019s last piano sonata and is moving on to the second \u2013 an expectant world awaits!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Bob is fond of this feedback:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2018Thanks Bob for sharing \u2013 really well written, clear and helpful.
