As well as a law degree he has a Master&#8217;s Degree in Healthcare Law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ben is a member of the Association Of Child Abuse Lawyers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Legal Experience:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Notable cases include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>acting for the widow of a serviceman killed in a boating accident<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>winning a substantial settlement for a man who was badly injured in a road traffic accident and no longer able to provide care for his autistic son<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>obtaining compensation for a man who was sexually abused at a children&#8217;s home in the 1950s<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>acting for the parents of a dead child whose organs were unlawfully removed following his death<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>obtaining a settlement of nearly \u00a32m for a man whose leg was crushed in a workplace accident<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u00a0winning a substantial sum for a woman who sustained life changing injuries as a result of not being adequately monitored in hospital.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ben has significant experience in representing adults who suffered physical and sexual abuse as children and has taken part in group actions against local authorities for failing to protect those in their care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He has expertise in claims relating to treatment in psychiatric units and issues around mental capacity\/deprivation of liberty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to his personal injury and medical negligence work Ben has considerable experience in dispute resolution and is a keen advocate of negotiation and mediation as a way of bringing cases to a conclusion without putting clients through the stress and expense of court hearings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Interests:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In his spare time, Ben enjoys improvised drama, swimming and cycling, and spending time with family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Email: bdures@scomo.com Practice Areas: Ben Dures qualified as a solicitor in 1997 and for 11 years was a Partner in a large East Anglian firm before joining Scott-Moncrieff.&nbsp;&nbsp;For several years he has been listed in the&nbsp;Legal 500&nbsp;as excelling in cases involving workplace and road traffic accidents.
