She has a particular interest in children\u2019s rights: unaccompanied asylum-seeking minors; children detained under section of the Mental Health Act 1983; and disabled children.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yolanda qualified as a solicitor in 2004. She joined Scott-Moncrieff &amp; Associates in 2011. Throughout her long career in private practice, she has represented vulnerable and disadvantaged clients. She advocates on behalf of victims of trafficking and torture, in order to allow them to access appropriate accommodation and support.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yolanda\u2019s cases often involve obtaining and challenging assessments and enforcing statutory duties of local authorities, health authorities and government departments. She is experienced in taking action to challenge the lawfulness of detention and seeking damages where the detention is found to be unlawful.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In addition to her legal practice at Scott-Moncrieff &amp; Associates, Yolanda previously taught as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Law between 2021 and 2024.
